Starring Phil Hayes as Frank Byzarre, Mark Davis as Francis Byzarre, Rob Short as Jake the Frat, Paul Rostance as the Doom Crew, Lucy Thomas as Beverly Hills, Clair Rostance as Abby Rhodes with Matthew Outram and Mark ‘Stan’Belcher. Written by the cast. Produced as the first Byzarre Brothers’ Comic Relief special. Copyright 1991 Byzness Films.

Plot:

In his underground lair, Jake the Frat creates Purple Noses to derail the charity gig known as Comic Relief. Meanwhile, Beverly Hills’ old problem has cropped up again - and she’s not talking about her rash.

The Byzarre Brothers are dossing around their office when they receive a message from the villainous Beverly Hills. On the way to visit, they make an appointment with a mugger for next Tuesday. Once at Beverly’s place they realise that her problem is their devoted fan Abby Rhodes. Francis escapes but Frank is not so lucky. After a trip through a plate glass window he rejoins Francis and they decide to tackle Jake and his purple noses as it’s probably safer.

At his dungeon HQ, Jake runs them through a couple of consumer tests, before revealing that there is a device at Beverly Hills’ house that will detonate all the red noses in Britain. They all run back there, where they explode the box itself against John Doom Crew One’s stomach.

Notes:

This is a very short film with a very short plot. The plot is, in fact, shorter than the film. It was written and filmed over one weekend in Spring 1991 and raised some money for Comic Relief through sponsorship at school.

Part of the action takes place in Jake’s dungeon HQ, so although this story must take place after Byzarre Brothers: The Movie (that being their first meeting) it can’t because the dungeon was destroyed at the end of that film. Maybe Jake rebuilt it. Maybe nobody really cares, and maybe we stopped using the cellar because it made the rest of Mark’s house smell damp. In any case it had a very low ceiling and Mark Belcher provided an excellent outtake by banging his head against it on camera.

Matt Outram’s gun was very realistic and fired starting caps. Of course, that was in the days when you could film behind a row of shops waving a gun around without police snipers bulking out the crowd scenes for your movie. And everyone left their doors unlocked and the Krays only murdered their own. Not like these modern criminals...
